The Community Colleges of Spokane is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Security Dispatcher in the District Administration Division.

GENERAL DEFINITION
The CCS District Security Dispatcher performs communications work in support of campus security operations. Work involves the intake, prioritization and dispatch emergency and non-emergency calls for service. Dispatcher will: initiate and maintain communication with security officers and responding Police, Fire and Medical services; maintain communication logs, and databases; and operate complex telecommunications and computer equipment to include multi-line phone systems, multi-channel two-way radio consoles, and two-way radios. This position will also provide office support to the Administration Services Divisions' Campus Security Department e.g. halFILE scanning and indexing; Clery Report distribution; update website; reconcile receipts, p-card statements, invoices, and expense reports; maintain emergency contact lists, mailing lists and prepare correspondence for mass mailing. This position requires the ability to multi-task, remain calm, composed, and communicate calmly, accurately, and efficiently in high stress situations, maintain confidentiality and discretion, and adapt to change and circumstances.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Receive incoming calls for security and emergency services and obtain all vital information relevant to the request of the call. Select and apply appropriate protocol and scripts to determine call priority and, dispatch or direct call to appropriate personnel. *
Simultaneously receive and transmit detailed call information to security officers; maintain status and awareness of security officer locations; monitor message traffic and relay information to officers/emergency responders.
Document security service requests and their progress in the OCS electronic dispatch management system and maintain shift log of all incoming emergency number calls. *
Interact with local fire, police and other emergency responders in a complete and concise manner ensuring a prompt and appropriate response. Provide dispatch and clerical support to Emergency Management team during critical incidents. *
Perform clerical support work to include but not limited to: halFILE scanning and indexing; Clery Report distribution; update website; reconcile receipts, p-card statements, invoices, and expense reports; and maintain emergency contact lists, mailing lists and prepare correspondence for mass mailing. *
Maintain a calm, polite, positive, and professional demeanor while communicating with all constituencies. *
Maintain awareness of lock, unlock, and building access protocols for various locations. *
Support and advance the CCS strategic plan, and perform other duties as assigned. *

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS)

Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and under pressure for emergency and stressful situations.
Ability to exercise critical thinking and sound judgment to facilitate communications to CCS Security personnel, Emergency Management personnel and external emergency services.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely and relay details accurately.
Experience in the use of computer software such as spreadsheets, database and word processing software.
Ability to provide excellent customer service at all times.
Ability to understand, read, write and speak English clearly, follow written and oral instructions, and compose log entries and written reports concisely and accurately.
Ability to handle multiple deadlines and priorities effectively.
Ability to interact sensitively and successfully with all levels of employees and members of the community.
Ability to maintain confidential information.
Acceptance of the responsibility to promote the welfare and best interests of students at all times.
A demonstrable understanding and acceptance of the mission, values, goals and objectives of CCS.
The ability to perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations and goals of the institution, and community and technical college system.

PREFERRED COMPETENCIES (DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS)
Knowledge of Call Center procedures.
Experience with radio dispatch systems / protocol, multi-channel radios, console computer terminals and multi-line telephones.
Two years of increasingly responsible clerical experience.
Dispatch security, fire and medical resources experience.
Experience with incident management software.

CONDITIONS/TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

TOTAL COMPENSATION: $46,567.
Total compensation is an estimate based upon adding the following amounts together:

Base compensation, plus
Current employer-paid health and related benefit contribution rates, plus
Median retirement fund contributions.
The actual total will vary depending upon each employee's enrollment choices.

Person hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of U.S. Citizenship or lawful authorization to work in the United States. This is an absolute condition of employment. An offer of employment will not carry with it any responsibility or obligation on the part of the District to sponsor an H1-B visa. In addition, the Community Colleges of Spokane maintains a drug-free work environment and prohibits all smoking in the college buildings and state-owned vehicles. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is performed in a normal, temperature controlled office environment.
Work is sedentary in nature.
Frequent use of computer and exposure to terminal screens.
Visual focus and strain.
Work involves constant interruptions and requirement to answer on demand questions by phone, in person, or electronically.
Work in a semi-open office setting with frequent interruptions and background noise.
Frequent repetitive hand/wrist motions and finger manipulation.
Frequent oral and auditory communication with others.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Full-time schedule (12-month, 40-hours a week)
Position is overtime eligible
6-month probationary period; may be extended up to 12 months
