Position Summary:
We are seeking a motivated research associate to help develop our next generation gene delivery group. Our goal is to design the optimal gene delivery protocols for integrating constructs into primary T cells for use in treating solid tumor cancers. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in gene and cell therapies, experience in evaluating non-conventional transduction/transfection methods, knowledge of the pathways associated with DNA sensing pathways, molecular biology experience, a willingness to think outside the box and go beyond standard methods of gene integration.


Essential Functions:
Perform assays to evaluate new ways of delivering plasmid constructs to cellular products, with the goal of more efficient, precise and cost effective gene delivery
Work with an integrated team to translate any newly developed methods to the clinic
Be hands on in the lab interrogating the impact these unique approaches have on the health, efficacy and safety of our cellular products when compared to the industry standard of viral delivery
Willing to wear many hats as is expected in a start up environment
Work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team and help mentor others

Preferred Experience:
Experience with viral vector and non-viral delivery methods, gene editing technologies, cell engineering, and cell line generation is preferred
Understanding of the biology around DNA sensing in primary human cells
Experience with multi color flow cytometry and cell sorting for construct testing
Outstanding written, visual, and oral communication skills with a willingness to have ideas challenged and to challenge other’s ideas in a constructive, efficient and respectful way
Demonstrated ability to work independently or in a team-oriented environment with moderate supervision
Start-up /industry experience a plus

Preferred Education:
BS/MS plus 2 or more years relevant experience (or equivalent) in bioengineering, molecular biology, biochemistry or related discipline with relevant lab experience

Preferred Additional Skills:
Expertise with use of common immunology assays such as cytokine determinations, cellular proliferation, cytotoxicity assays, ELISAs and flow cytometry
Knowledge of the biology related to DNA sensing pathways a plus
Expertise with pertinent analysis software (Prism, Flow Jo, Spotfire, Genious, etc)
Prior experience working with human samples, specifically primary T cell culture
Experience with Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) systems
