Job Description
Sorts and shelves books, magazines, pamphlets, audiovisual materials and other materials accurately for branch or respective departments.
Provides directional information to customers.
Scans material in computer to assure appropriate check-in.
Retrieves materials for customers and processes requests from other agencies.
Cooperates with other Library departments/branches to complete Library goals/objectives.
Shelf reads according to schedule for accurate order of materials.
Shifts and straightens materials as necessary.
Searches for misplaced or lost materials.
Assist with weeding, as assigned.
May pull materials requiring mending or binding.
May assist with training for new Shelvers as directed.
Regular and reliable attendance is required.

For Shelvers at the Main Library:
Responsible for routine delivery or pickup of materials throughout the Main Library.
Prepares carts of materials for delivery to appropriate departments.
Delivers carts to departments in a timely manner.
Other duties as assigned
Required Skills
Must be at least 16 years of age.
Must be able to see, read and understand titles, call numbers and dates.
Must be able to sort accurately by alphabetical, numerical, chronological, Dewey Decimal order or departmental classification/shelving schemes.
Strong customer service skills.
Ability to work independently.
Demonstrated proficiency with computers.
Follows oral and written instructions.
Knowledge of on-line public catalog.
Customer service focus.
Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including building and enhancing diverse relationships.

12 hours per week, including evenings and weekends.

Grade 1: $10.50 per hour
