Workforce Intelligence Data Solutions has an opening for a Data Engineer Specialist to provide direct Data Engineering support to the RTX Workforce Intelligence workstreams of Advanced Analytics, Automation, and Business Unit Consultants. With Advanced Analytics as the primary customer, the Data Solutions Data Engineer Specialist will also engage with the other workstreams when advanced data engineering is needed beyond what is available from the existing data infrastructure. The Data Engineer Specialist will investigate and identify opportunities for new data pipelines and data structures to advance the Workforce Intelligence mission, develop new and innovative solutions, and where appropriate work with the Workforce Intelligence Infrastructure group to productionize.

The Data Solutions Data Engineer Specialist supports RTX Workforce Intelligence Advanced Analytics, Automation, and Business Unit Consultants data needs, and will

Collaborate with analytics and business consultant teams to improve data models that feed business intelligence tools, increasing data accessibility, and fostering data-driven decision making across the organization
Work with Advanced Analytics, Automation, and Business Consultant stakeholders to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs. Effectively partner with the data scientists on the Advanced Analytics team on a regular basis.
Create data solutions for analytics team members that assist them in building and optimizing RTX Workforce Intelligence innovations
Design database queries to conduct benchmarking, testing, and validations for datasets used in machine learning and predictive models. Maintain the data quality and help support overall data governance of the datasets used in such models
Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL, Matillion, and Snowflake technologies
Assemble large, complex data sets that meet business requirements
Combine raw information from different sources
Identify opportunities for data acquisition
Develop and design scalable data pipelines supporting analytics models and tools to provide actionable insights into key business performance metrics
Build algorithms and prototypes
Explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability
Keep our data secure, and compliant with data privacy and data protection commitments
Work with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our HR data systems.

Technical expertise with data models and data mining
Knowledge of programming languages such as Python (Matillion preferred)
Great numerical and analytical skills
Previous experience as a data engineer or in a similar role
Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL), SQL database design as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases
Experience building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures, and data sets
Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement
Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets
Experience building processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management
A successful history of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large disconnected datasets
Familiarity with the machine learning and predictive modeling lifecycle will be a plus
Strong project management and organizational skills
Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Process oriented with great documentation skills
Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment
Excellent oral and written communication skills with a keen sense of customer service
Data engineering certification is a plus
Knowledge of HR data and HR data structure (Workday, ADP EV5) a plus
Ability to develop solutions to problems with minimal guidance
Nimble, ability to respond to ad hoc requests of differing urgencies and reprioritize on the fly
We are looking for a candidate with 5+ years of experience in a Data Engineer role, who has attained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, or another quantitative field
Ideal candidate will have experience using the following software/tools:
SQL Server
Advanced SQL/SQL database skills
Python development experience
Seasoned professional contributor
May manage small projects or processes
Has advanced knowledge of work area
Problems faced are difficult and sometimes complex
Works autonomously with limited oversight from manager


Remote, Hybrid or on-site UT6 (4 Farm Springs Road, Farmington, CT) preferred, with most key customers, stakeholders, and the Data Solutions team either hybrid or onsite at location UT6 (4 Farm Springs Farmington CT).
