Under general direction, this position supports the activities of placement testing. Duties include, but are not limited to: answering phones, scheduling appointments, administering tests,and entering placement results in the student management system (SMS). This position also provides information to students, faculty, and the public regarding placement testing processes and procedures. This position supports the activities of placement, certification and distance learning testing.
This position may work evenings and weekends as required to support department needs.
COMPETENCIES & OTHER REQUIREMENTS
This position requires excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast paced environment. Multi-tasking and maintaining attention to detail is a must, as is the ability to problem solve as unexpected issues arise. Experience with computers and computer software (MS office products, web browsers, email, and etc.) is important in this position.
Excellent customer service skills are a must.
CONDITIONS/TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
RATE OF PAY AND HOURS OF WORK
$13.50 per hour. Work schedule will be determined by the supervisor. Total hours per year will not exceed 1050 per year. Position is eligible for paid sick leave benefit with an accrual rate of one hour for every 40 hours worked.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Person hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of U.S. Citizenship or lawful authorization to work in the United States. This is an absolute condition of employment. In addition, the Community Colleges of Spokane maintains a drug-free work environment and prohibits all smoking in the college buildings and state-owned vehicles. Must be able to successfully work in and promote a multicultural work and education environment. Requires Criminal background check. If using personal vehicle for travel, proof of driver's license and car insurance required.
This position is an at-will employment position where the employer can terminate employment at any time for any reason (other than illegal reasons) and the employee can resign his or her employment at any time, for any reason.
This position will be designated a bargaining unit position after a part time employee works 350 hours or more in any consecutive twelve month period.
