Community Colleges of Spokane is accepting applications to develop an applicant pool of qualified candidates for a part-time Security Guard position in the Office of Campus Security.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide protection and security to facilities, building, grounds, and their residents, staff and visitors.
Conduct investigation of student code of conduct violations.
Conduct parking enforcement.
Work with and assist Campus Security Officers.
Support and advance the CCS strategic plan, and perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (Minimum Qualifications)
Ability to patrol, inspect and secure property.
Acceptance of the responsibility to promote the welfare and best interests of students at all times.
A demonstrable understanding and acceptance of the mission, values, goals and objectives of CCS.
The ability to perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations and goals of the institution, community and technical college system.
Demonstrated commitment to fostering and supporting a teaching, learning and working environment that honors diversity, equity and inclusion.
PREFERRED COMPETENCIES (Desirable Qualifications)
One year of security/law enforcement experience.
CONDITIONS/TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Work is commonly performed outdoors in uncontrolled elements.
Work is active in nature.
Work directly with students/clients.
Work involves constant interruptions and requirement to answer on demand questions by phone, in person, or electronically.
Move up to 25 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
Occasional kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing.
Frequent repetitive hand/wrist motions and finger manipulation.
Occasional to frequent change in position from sedentary, standing, stooping and walking.
Frequent oral and auditory communication with others.
Requires communication ability necessary to understand instructions and recognize hazardous, unsafe or poisonous materials and/or products.
Occasional exposure to fumes, dust, odors and/or biohazards.
RATE OF PAY AND HOURS OF WORK
$15.50 per hour. Work schedule will be determined by the supervisor. Total hours per year will not exceed 1050 per year. Position is eligible for paid sick leave benefit with an accrual rate of one hour for every 40 hours worked.
This position is an at-will employment position where the employer can terminate employment at any time for any reason (other than illegal reasons) and the employee can resign his or her employment at any time, for any reason.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Person hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of U.S. Citizenship or lawful authorization to work in the United States. This is an absolute condition of employment. This position will be designated a bargaining unit position after a part time employee works 350 hours or more in any consecutive twelve month period.
