Watertreatment specialists are primarily responsible for supervising or performingthe installation and operation of water purification equipment, as well asdealing with water storage and distribution operations and activities. Theyalso inspect facilities and food supplies for the presence of disease, germs orother conditions hazardous to health and the environment.

Job Duties

· Perform water qualityanalysis testing and verification

· Assist in waterreconnaissance and site preparation

· Operate and maintainwater treatment equipment

· Assist in setup ofwater treatment activity


Thosewho want to serve must first take the Armed Services Vocational AptitudeBattery, a series of tests that helps you better understand your strengths andidentify which Army jobs are best for you.


Job training for a water treatment specialistrequires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and 14 weeks of Advanced IndividualTraining with on-the-job instructions. Part of this time is spent in theclassroom and part in the field, including practice in testing differentproducts.

· Inspection of foodproducts, food service operations, wastewater and waste disposal facilities
