DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Applied Education Department of the Technical Education Division provides the general education related instruction of mathematics, English, communications, common software applications, and employment preparation to the students enrolled in the division's professional technical programs. An APLED instructor for the division can expect to instruct at the college freshman level in any one of these disciplines. The successful faculty member will be a team player who looks to customize her/his instruction to the specific needs of the supported professional technical program. Effective use of modern instructional delivery devices and equipment is expected. Finally, our APLED instructors are innovators and risk takers that push students to their optimum level of academic success.
Assignments can include distance education modes of instruction.
Support and advance the CCS strategic plan, and perform other duties as assigned.

An earned Master's degree from an accredited institution.
Acceptance of the responsibility to promote the welfare and best interests of students at all times.

The ability to perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations and goals of the institution, community and technical college system.
A demonstrated understanding and value for the contributions that a diverse workforce can make to the success of the organization and the students we serve.

This is an adjunct (part-time) position. Compensation will be pro-rated according to the amount of workload assigned. CCS reserves the right to cancel this recruitment without notice. Academic employees are represented by the Association of Higher Education (AHE), which is affiliated with NEA and WEA. Membership is optional.
CONDITIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT:
Person hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of U.S. Citizenship or lawful authorization to work in the U.S. This is an absolute condition of employment. In addition, CCS maintains a drug free work and learning environment and prohibits smoking in all college buildings and state-owned vehicles. CCS employees must be able to successfully work in and promote a multicultural and diverse work and educational environment. Requires Criminal background check. If using personal vehicle for travel, proof of driver's license and car insurance required.

Adjunct Faculty: Adjunct faculty must work two (2) consecutive quarters at 50% or more of full time academic load in order to qualify for benefits (based on instructional hours only). Once determined to be eligible, benefits begin on the first day of the month following the beginning of the quarter. Medical, dental, life and long term disability insurance benefits are provided as currently administered under Public Employees Benefits Board; TIAA-Cref retirement plan; leave accruals and usage are governed by the faculty master contract.
